False memory syndrome may occur with certain applications of hypnosis causing a person to remember something that never occurred. Be assured that all practitioners at Laurimar Wellbeing Hub do not engage in such applications of hypnosis and this practice would also not be supported by the professional insurers or the peak body.
Abreactions( Strong emotional response)
As with most psychotherapies there is the potential for an abreaction. Abreaction is where a person has a strong emotional response during therapy. Our therapist are trained to minimise the likelihood of an abreaction.
Should an abreaction occur, our therapists are able to check-in, establish wellbeing, and make an informed mutual decision whether to continue or reorientate and discuss what has come up. While we can never guarantee abreaction will not occur, it is a rare reaction, and hypnotherapy is generally experienced as a pleasant and productive experience.
